The winner takes it all

20 Nov

Thinking:
If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t.If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN!

― Walter D. Wintle
I did not sleep last night. I woke up at 2.30 am and usual method to deal with such episodes – meditation, didn’t work. I read for an hour and half. Still no sleep. As post this am still feeling sleep deprived. It’s not because of the cricket match. It’s about being reminded of  painful episodes of time – when you lost everything  because you didn’t think – you were enough. The night is always a painful reminder.
I thought India would win World Cup. I also tweeted about same and put it on Whats app status. They had played ten matches with belief and intensity. They were led by a brave captain and fiery bowlers. Every one played their part and it’s bowler’s who win you matches.  Australia were always going to be bold and  brave  in finals. I always thought Travis Head could do a Ricky pointing of 2003. He did. I thought bowlers would find a solution. In the end India just couldn’t pull it off and Australia were deserving winners. They  bowled, fielded and batted with intent and purpose. I don’t like adjectives generally but fortune favors the brave. Australian cricket team knows this well. They always raise their game in big match situations. India who were stellar through out were outplayed in finals in all departments of bowling, fielding and batting.
India is my favorite team. They deserved to win the way they played the tournament. May be it was the pitch which behaved differently in both the innings. The young Indian stars were perhaps inexperienced for the big occasion. What if the captain courageous who in my opinion  was the star of world cup not taken one  risk too many and steered the team like Dhoni did in 2011.
I think Australia planned better, they had a game plan for every player and played with Intent. The Captain raised his game and team’s game.
India too played fearless cricket in the competition till the finals. They were the best team in competition.
There is a lesson. Never underestimate the opposition. Plan better.  Most of all be brave.
Be fearless. We may still lose like in love. But then who cares? we gave our best.
Be  bold. Be brave!
Congratulations team Australia! You deserve to win. Well played team India. You are the best.
Sincerely, Suresh

Happy Diwali

“Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day:

– I shall not fear anyone on Earth.
– I shall fear only God.
– I shall not bear ill will toward anyone.
– I shall not submit to injustice from anyone.
– I shall conquer untruth by truth. And in resisting untruth, I shall put up with all suffering.”
― Mahatma Gandhi

I hope the festival of lights brings some cheer when part’s of the world is steeped in suffering. I find war unconscionable and pray for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. I don’t think  things are right, just or fair. More than 60% of people who died in middle east are children, women and elderly. What kind of world is this? Where is your favorite guru?

I do hope for a ceasefire. Will my words have any effect? I believe when many hands  come together the universe will find a voice or a  larger echo. The butterfly effect. I hope so.

One goes through same  struggles of mind, body and existence. I think life is evolutionary it really gets difficult when we don’t evolve with the situation. Stasis is not good. Every day is Day 1.  How old are you this Diwali? Day 1.

I hope a new statesman emerges – beyond right, left or center or may be there is secret awareness among nation – states or some blocs. Something. To stop this bloodshed.

I wish you happiness and health. Think about people who are suffering.

Happy Diwali!

Sincerely, Suresh
