Bruce Springsteen : My fathers house (Nebraska)

11 Aug

This is one of my favorite songs and have posted it many times, whenever the world dosen’t make sense to me, listen to this song and get lost in my father’s world. This is such a beautifully written song and love the imagery in the video, sketches and pictures,  made me happy and hope you like it too dear friends!

My Father’s House:

Last night I dreamed that I was a child out where the pines grow wild and tall
I was trying to make it home through the forest before the darkness falls

I heard the wind rustling through the trees and ghostly voices rose from the fields
I ran with my heart pounding down that broken path
With the devil snappin’ at my heels*

I broke through the trees and there in the night
My father’s house stood shining hard and bright
The branches and brambles tore my clothes and scratched my arms
But I ran till I fell shaking in his arms

I awoke and I imagined the hard things that pulled us apart
Will never again, sir, tear us from each other’s hearts
I got dressed, and to that house I did ride from out on the road, I could see its windows shining in light

I walked up the steps and stood on the porch
A woman I didn’t recognize came and spoke to me through a chained door
I told her my story, and who I’d come for
She said “I’m sorry son, but no one by that name lives here anymore”

My father’s house shines hard and bright it stands like a beacon calling me in the night
Calling and calling, so cold and alone
Shining ‘cross this dark highway where our sins lie unatonedd

I love Bruce springsteen and is one of my heroes. The only hero that have known and seen is my father..

I read something nice in a cricket column by Ravi Shastri. I love Ravi Shastri as a cricketer, he had limited skills, he made up for same with intelligence, courage and character. He would have made a great captain in my humble opinion. I have lost interest in that sport but like reading him , has this to say today on reversal of fortunes …

”  The Key is to believe you can do it. Results follow belief. All troubles go away if you can stand your ground. Give it time. Soak in it. Don’t bolt. Tides do turn. Air does blow the other way. That’s nature. You mind is your vehicle. Clear its filters.”

― Ravi Shastri  (” The answer for India is to do little things better”,  Times Sport,  August 11,2014, Times of India)

I concur totally.  I wanted to share this for you dear friends, if there is a blindspot, things do change…

So take a deep breath and clear the filters. Feel the fresh air and be hopeful again 🙂

This for Bruce springsteen, Ravi Shastri and my father and  you..

I passed by your house my friend 🙂

Have a lovely day dear friends! Thank you!
