Holi Ragas ( Indian classical music) playlist :

18 Mar

I had done a post on ” Holi” and stumbled on these beautiful Indian classical music pieces by great artistes on facebook page.Let’s just say scrolled on to this. My knowledge of Indian classical music is rudimentary and am no connoisseur. But love music in all its forms. So my appreciation and understanding is ” by ears”.

Many years ago when we were in school, there was a popular quiz show “Quiz Time” on state owned television channel ” Doordarshan”. I remember two participating students from IIT ( India’s MIT/ Yale/ Harvard/ what not rolled into one ) who were part of the show, who when played a piece of Indian classical music ” deeply enjoyed the music shaking their heads in deep immersion as if in trance”. Finally when asked to identify the music by the affable quiz master, they said in a dead pan expression jointly” I don’t know” . I am same 🙂

Hope you like this beautiful Indian classical music by great masters from these parts. Kishori Amonkar, Pandit Gajananbuwa and Ustad Abdul Karim Khan are great masters of Indian classical music.

Scroll is a brave bright new venture in the digital content and news space. Please do see :

A little trivia, went to secondary school with Samir Patil, one of the founders behind Scroll. Samir, an MIT alumnus, is like a ideal child, ideal person, ideal executive , ideal investor and Ideal entrepreneur in my opinion. Now an ideal publisher. That makes him better than M.S. Dhoni. I am sure this venture will succeed and create a credible platform for online news and reporting. I love Samir Patil. I love others too. I love you too because you take little time to read my humble posts.

I may not know much about Indian classical music, but like the little story shared, does not stop me from enjoying too 🙂

Hope you have a lovely day! Thank you!
