Rolling Stone article : Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev

I watched a report on CNN yesterday about furore and criticism about  Rolling Stone’s cover picture and story on Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The CNN report had one of the panelists mentioning Rolling stone had put it online for every one to draw their own judgement over the story. I decided to read it and share it here.

The story basically paints a picture of a adolescent gone wrong due to radicalization from a overbearing brother, the other suspect who died, and a sense of alienation and skewed identity. The story cobbled through comments of school friends, wrestling coach and Dzokhar’s twitter feeds points to alienation, skewed identity, leanings and a dysfunctional family.  I do not want to comment more, as the terrible tragedy that ensued is no justification of the trials and tribulations of suspect,if any, it was a gross and heinous crime. I remember watching their uncle coming on Television on aftermath of bombings  and denouncing them as “losers” and requesting them to surrender.

I really don’t know if this  story falls under investigative journalism. CNN has a report of some pictures of Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev at the time of his arrest, this was released by a police official to Boston Magazine, the official had called Rolling stone cover an “insult” and “hurtful” to survivors :

Thank you!
